I ordered the 181 Special Roll, which was cooked yellowtail and a spicy chef's sauce, along with the shumai (shrimp dumplings x6). Both were very tasty. The shrimp dumplings by themselves were so good I wish I had ordered another set! The special roll was very good hadn't had cooked yellowtail in a while and the spicy sauce was a good match for how I like it. The place itself no frills (a clean bodega style setup). Worth the walk for me. Staff was pleasant. Recommended.
YAY it’s open i am soooo happy. I was in tears when i saw it was closed and praying for a comeback. This is the best sushi in the heights. their spicy tuna is so good and unique. they used to have the “empire roll” which is the best roll i’ve ever had in my life, hoping they’ll bring it back. my only wish is that they make the spicy mayo “traditional” with kewpie mayo and siracha but their sushi is so good that this is the only place i don’t mind skipping out on spicy mayo. STAY OPEN PLS!
Ordered via Uber. This is a no. Like all the fish had some type of “taste/aftertaste”. Got rotten ginger.
This has always been one of my favorite spot for Japanese food. Since COVID emerged in 2020, I haven't sat down to eat in any restaurant these past 3 years... still won't. Today, I decided to order my favorite for delivery. As with other establishments their prices also have gone up ~30%. My beloved beef negamaki bento box that cost $18.50 now cost $32.95. The gyoza that cost $5.95, is now $8.95. Those 2 things that pre-COVID cost less $25, now cost $42. Added to the bill was $10.95 for delivery charge. For 2 person order it cost $80 that 2 1/2 years ago was under $50.Overall, the food tasted fresh, well seasoned, delicious, and still a favorite for me. The amount given in the bento made enough for 2 servings. I think next time, I'll order over the phone, walk 1 mile each way to pick up the food, and save myself the $11 delivery charge. Although pricey, I'll still buy from them, just not as frequent as before.
Looks like Sushi Yu 2 is in the let 's milk the last out of this place before we close phase... and that 's a shame (been going here for 12 years)Inflation makes the go Up, but that Doesn 't mean that quality should go Down. (i.e. see pic of rolls where tuna is almost white..not pink at all)
