It 's not that I wanted to give Yolas a 4 star rating, it 's that a need to. In the grand scheme of things I 'd probably give Yolas 3 stars but this place is just too classic and near and dear to ole Deon 's heart. Here 's the thing about Yolas, I get the same **** almost every single time. I 've never even been inside Yolas but I 've bought a few diesels at the bodega next door to it. Anyways, the usual delivery order is a steak and chee dilla and if I 'm feeling like a kegman, I 'll get what we call the auxiliary taco and usually I 'll just get soft beef yaco. The dilla is pretty shot but it 's also insanely fire for what they give you. It 's actually one dilla on top of another dilla inside of a circular tin. Essentially imagine a dilla with two tortillas and the fixins in the middle, but two of them stacked with plenty of sauces and a little guy of guac. Back in the day I 'd order Yolas when I was in the cab on my way home from a night out and I 'd just beat the delivery guy there and then crush dillas. Gotta say, those were some good times. Anyways, decent spot at best but always hits the spot and it 's a bang for your buck.
Average Mexican food is the best way to describe Yola's. It's super close to home so you'd think delivery would be instantaneous, unfortunately not the case. I ordered rice and beans and a fajita plate here. The food is bland and I was hoping for more robust fresh flavors.
I want to meet Yola one day to learn all of her food secrets. This mom and pop shop has won my heart over for some seriously good Mexican eats on Metropolitan. Not everything is amazing on the menu, but if you find one thing you like and crave it, then keep ordering it. It will taste the same every time you do. I have consistently ordered pick up and delivery from Yola's and each time has been a very delicious and efficient experience. I would suggest not eating here, because the true authenticity of the food, not really the ambiance, is what makes this place special. It's very close to the Metropolitan Ave G/ Lorimer St L train, right on Metropolitan Ave. I live a few blocks down, so I can leave about 15 minutes after I order and I know my food will be ready. I almost always get the Mole Chicken Enchiladas $13 with tax), which is served as a platter with pinto beans and rice, as well as lettuce, Cotija cheese, radishes, and sour cream. You can choose a side of green or red hot sauce. Just come here for this, you'll thank yourself for eating the true authenticity which is their mole sauce. I know for a fact that I will be back to get a huge order of their tacos, because I don't think you could go wrong with that choice. Also, try their tortas!
This place is slow and the food is ok. Nothing special. However, the food is not worth for the price as they are little too plain... Would have used the same amount of money for somewhere else like Chipotle and gotten a better food for the price...
