Some time ago, my wife and I had an amazing idea of trying to get our 30,000 steps in so decided to hunt bakeries in NYC! It's bar hopping, but without the meaningless calories and lost memories! Well, on that looong looong day of walking and countless stops, Buttercup stands alone in being THE ONLY ONE that we simply cannot visit on our day trips up to the city! Just how good are these campfire bars, good enough that we (yes, two people) order a dozen to pick up EVERY TIME WE VISIT!Life is uncertain, eat dessert first and for goodness sake, make it a campfire bar from BUTTERCUP NYC!!!
If I could give Buttercup Bake Shop 0 stars I would. I placed a cake order over the phone for my daughter 's party and the woman taking my order asked me how many people? I told her 20 and she insisted I needed a half sheet cake. She then proceeded to ask me what I wanted on the cake and I said can you please write her name surrounded by flowers she proceeded to ask me what colors I wanted and I let her know pastel purple, yellow and blue. As you can see from the photo of the cake, her name is written completely off-centered and it is fully lopsided. It looks like a 6 year old designed the cake. It was also way too big for 20 people so I had to throw most of it away. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the cake and the design, along with the ridiculous upsell to a sheet cake, so I emailed the team to let them know. The executive assistant emailed me back defensively and very rudely saying it was my fault for not specifying how I wanted the cake designed. All I wanted was her name written nicely and in the center of the cake with nice pastel flowers around it. As you can see from the photo, this cake is embarrassing and looks worse than a $20 Costco sheet cake and it was $125. Her name is off-center, written very sloppily and the colors are very dark, not pastel. Their customer service was rude defensive and I would highly caution anyone from ordering from this establishment. Their owners (who the EA would not put me in touch with) should be embarrassed and I hope they take a deep look at their service levels. I have ordered from the bakery numerous times in the past but safe to say I never will again, and you shouldn 't either.
Nice little bakery -with lots of cupcakes, cheesecakes, and other pastries, but no coffee -I've now been here two or three times. Strangely, they don't offer coffee to go., but they do offer some light beverages and soda. Though they have seating, they are not really a sit-down place, so just come here to purchase the sweet stuff and then leave and go on your merry way. Would I come back here? Yes.
Someone sent me 6 cheesecakes and 2 cup cakes as a birthday gift. The cheesecakes were disgusting. Very creamy; too creamy and sickening with all the stuff garbage they add on the top; unedable poison. I gave three away and had to throw the other three in the garbage as my sister and I had a taken a bite each to taste. The cup cake was edible but not moist. I really feel bad for the money my relatives spent on sending me this stuff.
Xian is one of the most personable and comfortable people you'll meet while looking for cupcakes in this city. She explained what each flavors were like and where the flavors were inspired by. I enjoyed our interaction and would totally come again!!
