I had high expectations from the reviews but left disappointed.Positives: The food was very quick to come out, and the steamed eggplant with pepper sauce was excellent. The Dan Dan Mian was quite good too.Negatives:Food was expensive and mid.Zha Jiang Mian was too salty and not near as good as the typical dish. It was just thick noodles in a mixed soy sauce; there wasn’t enough fermented wheat/bean paste and the sauce was just some chopped aromatics and rubbery diced tofu that said to the bottom of the bowl (so I couldn’t eat the noodles coated in them). Mapo tofu was run of the mill and the scallion pancakes were tasty, but too oily.I didn’t love the red lighting and the semi-dingy club like atmosphere. There was also one server for literally every table in the restaurant, which was fully occupied, and they were a little cold, which was fair given how much they had to manage. The portions are also gigantic, so the value for quantity is not actually that bad. But none of us finished what we got and the people around us didn’t seem to either (and I can eat a lot); I wish there was the option to get a smaller size for entrees like noodles and mapo tofu. The appetizers are shareable and still a lot for one person. I would recommend ordering several apps to share and one main per two people.
Delicious lunch. Authentic and Amazing flavors. We had MaPo tofu, string beans, sesame noodles. Now one of our top spots to eat when we visit NYC.
The food was delicious but a bit too spicy for us. The portions are big, but it still seems pretty expensive. I would go again, but would request everything to be milder.
We went to check out this vegan restaurant based on internet recommendations and boy it did not disappoint. 3 of us shared 3 dishes. Not sure what we ordered but everything was delicious and oh boy spicy. Out of this world. Highly recommend it. Get reservations. The place is tiny but we did get good service even though the place seemed a little hectic. We went there on a Sunday night and the place was packed. Definitely a must go if you like Szechuan cuisine
Trust the reviews— this place is very very good. The food was incredible! Well seasoned (a little salty) but the flavors were delicious. As the other reviews say, even meat-lovers will love this place.I wish they hired more staff. The employees were very friendly and efficient but they were very under-staffed and wearing too many hats.
