Go! Go! Curry - Newark

The food is tasty, but the portions leave much to be desired. Essentially, you're paying $14 for a small piece of protein and just a few bites of rice. The atmosphere is quite unpleasant; the restaurant was nearly empty, there was no music playing, and the staff seemed to be hiding in the kitchen unless someone came through the front door. Overall, it’s a very strange dining experience.

Go! Curry! relates to the number 5, including prices, opening hours (10:55 AM to 5:55 PM), and daily specials on days ending in the number 5. My fiancé first tasted Go! Go! Curry! while living in New York and has been craving it ever since. On our last day in the New York/New Jersey area, we decided to stop by for lunch. My fiancé ordered the pork katsu, while I chose the chicken katsu. Initially, I doubted whether the portion would satisfy me, but I miscalculated—it was definitely the perfect lunch size! The katsu was thin and crispy, and the curry was thick and complemented the meal wonderfully. I really wish they would expand to the West Coast because we could use some Go! Go! Curry here too!

As an Asian Rutgers student, there are only a few authentic Asian restaurants to choose from in Newark, but Go!Go! Curry never fails to satiate my appetite for some delicious, umami Japanese curry. My go-to meal here is either the Chicken Katsu Curry Bowl or the Home Run Bowl, both of which taste amazing. I will definitely come back again and again! Thank you for the delicious food!
