Didn't know that they got popular because of TikTok.Cakes are pretty and are super photogenic, which is probably why they have gotten attention)Peach Blossom (cream cheese lemon chiffon): cream cheese is less heavy and the peach flavors are subtle, but present.Rose Lychee (rose cream with vanilla chiffon): The cake itself was super moist, but I wished the rose and lychee flavors were stronger.Overall, I think that they can make a nice gift or for a celebration, because they are pretty, but I think the flavors overall were a bit underwhelming.
My friend shared a Tik Tok of this place and told me to try it. For the Bay Area, I don 't believe they have any physical stores currently but ordering on enjoyhanabi.com was pretty easy. They seem to have partnered up with a boba shop Zero& which you can pick up from in various locations around the Bay. For me, the location was inside the Great Mall. What I ordered:1. Peach Blossom Mini Box Cake2. Rose Lychee Dream Mini Box Cake Gluten Free Pickup Notes The time for pickup was from 3pm to 6pm for me so I chose the earliest spot at 3pm so I can enjoy it earlier. I got there around 2:30pm and Zero& let me pickup early which is great! I also noticed that Hanabi actually has a display case full of their cakes at the location as well so if you don 't want to pre order beforehand, you can just buy it straight from the store without reservation. Cake Notes The flavors were really cool and overall the taste was good. I would say a mini box is just enough for 1 person to finish. As such, I would recommend 1 Mini Box per person. So why the 3 stars?Overall I think Hanabi products are pretty good quality. The website, service, and the presentation of each of the cakes were all pretty stellar and I would easily give this part 5 5.However, the cake itself I did not find extra special besides the unique flavors of Rose Lychee Peach. Although it was tasty, it felt pretty basic with just a couple layers of cake with whip cream and the chosen jelly flavoring (see pics attached . I kept waiting for some Ah Ha moment or Wow moment but it never came. At one point, I think since the flavors were so similar, both cakes started to taste the same.I 'll need to try this again. Looking forward to the physical store re opening for convenience so I can try other products to see if my tastes will change.
I've had Hanabi Bakery before and to be honest was not a fan of their cakes for the price. I was intrigued when I saw that the same location added croissants and Zero&. Ordering is via kiosk and you get your order fairly fast. I ordered the egg salad croissant, ube almond croissant, croque monsieur croissant, korean garlic bread, and the pumpkin cheesecake croissant (didnt see this on the menu but it was on the kiosk ordering menu, could be a seasonal item). In addition for drinks I ordered the coconut zero.Starting off with the drinks the coconut zero was delicious! Super fresh and you can taste the real coconut chunks in there. A really refreshing drink for a hot day would order again. The croissants came out to be a bit pricey (i'd go to 85 if you were interested in some asian baked goods). The egg salad croissant was probably my favorite but not something you couldn't make at home. The other items were lackluster the korean garlic bread had a sweet cheese center that I didn't like it made the pastry too sweet. The croque monsieur croissant was very meh, i'd opt for a ham and cheese croissant elsewhere.Stick to the drinks if you go to Hanabi!
Did I buy myself a coffee and coconut lunar bun bun cake from Hanabi just because I could? Yes, yes I did. As always, light and fluffy and made with impeccable precision.
Wow these cakes are so goood! You need to pick up at a boba place, but these were much more delicious than I expected. My favorite flavor was the Ube one. All of them weren't too sweet, but were very satisfying. To top it off, they were all decorated and packaged cutely. These are the perfect sized cakes so that you won't feel overwhelmed, but can still serve like 2-4 people depending how much cake you'd like.
