It's called the blacken chicken sandwich. It had a small kick of spice and lots of chicken. I added mayonnaise to mine to make it 100% banana kingish Hahahaha. The sweet potatoes were lit. This is like a dive bar in in the Ironbound. I drink lagunitas here. Prices are cheap !
We visited this restaurant after quite a while and found it had a spacious bar counter, which made it easy to find a spot when it wasn't too crowded. They also offer tables for dining. I gave it high marks for their impressive selection of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch. The bartender was friendly and patient, helping us explore different bourbons, and the drinks were expertly crafted. Additionally, they have a solid beer selection. However, the food was a mixed experience. While the menu had some interesting options, the flavors were just average and could use some refinement. I've definitely had better bar food elsewhere.
First off, the fries were fantastic—crispy thanks to a delicious batter, though they could have used a bit more time to drain the oil. The sweet potato fries were equally tasty. However, the Philly cheesesteak, veggie, and chicken sandwiches all came served in a hero-style ciabatta, and I found the bread a bit overwhelming. While it was decent overall, I was disappointed with the meat-to-bread ratio. My coworkers, on the other hand, raved about the Guinness burger topped with cheddar and thick bacon on a Portuguese roll. We also enjoyed free soft drink refills, with our total coming to $11 each. The decor is impressive, blending old-school charm with contemporary pin-up art. The owner has clearly put a lot of thought into everything, including the naming of the dishes and drinks, not to mention a nod to the NJ Devils hockey team. A talented bartender also created a beautiful mosaic centerpiece that's currently for sale for $8,000. The bathroom was clean, which is always a plus, and even the flyers for the restaurant showed high-quality design. If it weren't for the fact that I don't live in Newark, NJ, I would definitely come back to this highly-rated bar and lounge, especially with a burlesque show happening on Thursdays! The service was slightly slow given the crowd, but our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great experience!
As you enter, there's a pole right at the entrance. They have a few tables in front of the stage, with the rest located toward the back near the bar. The burlesque show typically kicks off shortly after 10 on Thursday evenings. The dancers were fantastic, and we all had a great time at the show. The servers were attentive, and the drinks were very reasonably priced. Overall, it's a fun place to check out if you're in the area!
I've visited this place before, but on this occasion, the first thing I noticed was a sign indicating that the credit card machine was out of order. As a result, I could only order drinks with the little cash I had. The bartender's service was average. I was part of a large group, and one of the girls ordered chicken nachos. She found them unappetizing, primarily because each chip was topped with a dollop of sour cream. Overall, it didn't look very appealing.
