The Port Tavern - Newburyport

Wonderful food. Wonderful staff with a great atmosphere in the middle of beautiful downtown Newburyport!

Great pub atmosphere with sports on the TVs and many beers on tap. A great place to relax and have a few beers. I noticed a lovely party going on in the back of the restaurant with everyone having a great time. The bartender didn't have much of a personality but got us out drinks quickly! We didn't have anything to eat

If you try nothing else, make sure to try the clam chowder. Not the best I've had, but in the top 5. And I never pass up chowder if it's on the menu.Rest of our meals were good. Typical pub food. Fairly priced for size/portion. I liked the fries which were served piping hot, and everyone was a full-length fry. No little shorty broken pieces.We were seated right away and service was prompt. But then again it was late on a Tuesday evening.Only negative comment was table top could have used a little extra cleaning. But then again, it is a pub.

Decent food, no wait to get seated, but EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE. Waited to be greeted by our server for over 10 minutes, our food took probably 40 minutes to come out, and over 20 minutes for her to take our card to cash us out. Pretty much spent the entire time at this place sitting around waiting for something, which is crazy considering I was at one of the two occupied tables.
