We had dinner at Percy French on our second evening at Slieve Donard in July 2024 and we greatly enjoyed our experience. It's a lovely restaurant with gorgeous views, attentive staff, and good food. I had the half roast chicken with champ and gravy, and served with a side of vegetables, which was broccolini and Snap peas. Others at the table got steak, burgers and fish and chips. I thought my food was good and especially enjoyed the champ and gravy. Everyone else said they enjoyed their meal as well. Overall it was about what I expected for a meal out on vacation in N Ireland; a bit pricey for good quality food in a lovely location. I would eat here again based on my experience.
A fantastic restaurant/bar located in the grounds of The Sleive Donard Hotel. Percy French has the look and feel of an old golf club house, timber frames on the ceiling, tv with sports on and a good range of traditional beers. We decided to visit Percy French after a long walk on Newcastle promenade mainly because of it's outside, dog friendly seating area. There's around 10 tables outside with a few covered tables at the front of the building. We only popped in for one drink but it was very nice and the atmosphere was great. There was large groups of families inside and the staff were extremely welcoming. There's also free wifi which is extremely important in the signal black spot that is Newcastle. I'd love to go back and try the food which looked sublime!
Great spot for good pub food on the waterfront, next to the hotel and spa. Had a delicious Caesar salad with roasted pulled chicken that was very hearty. Also a good bar for a libation before or after dinner.
Percy French is closed through July 2023 and hasn't bothered to post it on their website so I wanted to share they are closed. They've packed up the Game of Thrones door and sent it to storage rather than relocate it to a section of their establishment that is open. If you are looking to see all of the GOT doors, you're out of luck. The only people who put their door in storage instead of relocating it to the open section of their massive property. I personally think GOT should take their door back and put it in an establishment that respects GOT and more importantly the fans who plan trips to see the doors
