So not sure how to write this one out as I 'll comment on both aspects. But Yelp should probably make two entries for these two places. The brewery has some great beers. We tried a couple and they were nicely done. the stout and the Bitter were very good. The food was typical but nicely done. The trout was good, but the mash was kind of bland. The lamb burger was fine, but the sauce really made it as the past itself was a bit bland. I would go back for a pint for sure. There is a great patio area so during the warmer months this is a great place to sit out at. The breakfast was a bit more varied, which was a nice. The omelet I had was very nice and flavorful. A bit more cooked than a some, but still tasty. As for the rooms, they are well maintained and comfortable enough, but are feeling their age a bit. Everything has been well taken care of and everything is clean, but it was just like walking into the room reminded me of a 1980 's hotel room. For the last night on our walk of the wall, this was fine, but just something to be aware of. The trail is close to get started back on, or if you are covered in blisters by this point, there is a bus stop near by that you can take to the train station!
Nice place, good outdoor area for warm days and nights. Great place to stop and have refreshment after a walk along the riverside, however we ordered food on our visit. Soup tasted like it was fresh from a tin. Macaroni cheese was obviously microwaved and overcooked so it was hard and dry around the edges and pretty tasteless. Overpriced for microwave food. Not the best. Will not eat here again.
Very welcome. Offer 2 course special menu and main menu. Released for 2 course menu £8.95. Worth the money. Delicious good portions of food. Good selection. Would recommend.
We visited today and would be their Sunday dinner the best around!!! The quality of food was exceptional, portion size was generous, including meat, and the engraving was perfect. This, along with the excellent service and beautiful surroundings made the visit of the first class. Will definitely return and would highly recommend!!!
Great place to stop along Hadrian's wall, food was good, steak and ale cake! But the best part was her wonderful part-time bartender Ken, great company, good design ale, and my new favorite gin and tonic. Best wishes from Iceland!
