Stayed in the Marseille suite which was beautifully appointed and had everything we could want fireplace, tub, private balcony with beautiful vistas. The staff members were very welcoming and took care of all our needs including great recommendations for day trips. Loved Tuesday Jazz and small plates on the outdoor terrace and enjoyed another wonderful meal in their exquisite dining room. Breakfasts were a treat! This is truly a hidden gem in the Poconos. Looking forward to coming back in the fall season as the colors are bursting around the French Manor.
The grounds are beautiful. I would strongly suggest one check out the rooms in person before reserving. We stayed in Turret. This room is in the main manor home. The dining area is on the first floor and Turret is on the second. One can hear the kitchen staff through the vents in the room! The room also has a portable air condition unit on the second floor that is extremely loud and distruptive. There are also several odd large furnitures in the room that are not useful. The furniture are have nicks and the fridge in the room was dented. There was also very poor internet connection.
This place is definitely resting on a time that, once was. Although, there is historical value in some of the rooms, there is a huge attention to detail that is lacking. Service was okay, if you could get a hold of someone note: only make requests between 9 9). The views were the only nice thing about the location as there is nothing in the immediate area worth while. Plan on a 20 45 minute drive to take in any sites or to enjoy the local community. Because of this, your dining experience will be limited as well. The add ons they offer such as, cheese and cracker plate and picnic basket, are extremely pedestrian which, only subtracted from the experience . This was our 20 year anniversary and we wanted to checkout early and come home.
My wife and I stayed one night and treated ourselves to a day spa to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. It was our first visit and the room was clean and tidy and had a beautiful view of the scenic valley beyond. The spa was incredible which bumped the review up to the 4 stars. There isn't much around for 20-30 miles if you want to dine off site. The breakfast ends at 10 which is early considering we stayed to get away and relax and have a lazy day. Our visit was a one and done situation; we tried it and it was under-whelming.
What a major disappointment! The room was so bad, old, dirty and should be totally remodeled. We could have stayed at a Holiday Inn for a week for the price we were charged for two nights. we had to call 2x to get clean towels. The facials we received was nothing more than the aesthetician just lightly spreading some oil on our faces, actually dripping some in my eye, but there was 0 massage. The couples massage was the only high point of the weekend, the masseuses were both professional and well skilled.Rooms: Horrible! Not anywhere worth the
