Wood-n-tap Grill - Newington

This restaurant is a great choice if you're looking for a satisfying meal without spending too much. I recommend the Bourbon Sirloin – it's fantastic! While it wasn't quite as good on my last visit, it was still enjoyable. You can't go wrong with the barbecued dishes or salads, and they offer a great selection of craft beers. The live music is usually excellent, and yes, the ribs really do fall off the bone. There have been a few times when they weren't cooked just right, but that's generally the exception rather than the rule. The only downside we've encountered was with the Brussels sprouts; they caramelize them with balsamic vinegar, but it often comes out too dark and overpowering. Overall, this place is definitely more of a hit than a miss!

As a former member of the food industry, I tend to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. However, my recent experience here was truly deserving of just one star, as it left a bad taste in my mouth. When placing my order, I informed the staff member about my milk allergy, but it seemed that they didn’t take allergies seriously. My side salad arrived with cheese, and the salmon was accompanied by a tartar sauce that I couldn't trust due to the potential for cross-contamination. As a result, I had to throw my dinner in the garbage. For anyone with allergies, I would recommend steering clear of this restaurant—it could lead to an allergic reaction, and overall, the food was mediocre at best.

I ordered the nachos with ground beef, but they were burnt and only came with beans—no strawberries at all. I decided to send them back and went with the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which is one of my favorites. I requested it without the blue cheese crumbles, but it was a bit rough. The first wrap they served me was disappointing, but after addressing it, I finally received a high-quality wrap along with the crispy fries I was expecting. I have to say, the Rocky Hill and Hartford locations are much better.

The moment we went to one of the hostess had an attitude. As if she was upset, we were a family of color. This place gave me only really negative vibes along with really basic food. They didn't even recognize my beautiful granddaughter, and when we didn't leave them, nobody said. One star is for our server, it was decent. We will never return to this place again!
