While the buffet isn't extensive, the food was really delicious. There’s also a menu available for ordering. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the area. We will definitely be back!
I don’t often write reviews, but we were on the lookout for a cozy, family-owned restaurant and stumbled across this gem on the map. Finding parking in this small town at 8 p.m. on a Friday felt like a positive sign, and it turned out to be just that! We all opted for the buffet, and since Friday is seafood night, we enjoyed an all-you-can-eat feast for just $14.99. Having just spent a week on the beach enjoying seafood, I can confidently say this was just as good, if not better! The frog legs were the biggest I’ve ever encountered—though they’re not my favorite, I still found them delicious. The buffet also included a full salad bar and a cherry cooker along with several ice cream options for dessert. The staff was fantastic, too! The atmosphere was relaxed and homey, and you could tell the kitchen knows how to cook! We will definitely return the next time we pass through!
Upon arrival, the first things that stood out were the newness, ease, and cleanliness of the place. It was exceptionally clean, and you could see that it was popular with the locals. We settled down at our table, and the waitress greeted us like we were part of the family. She was helpful in guiding us on how to get the best value for our meal, which was impressive. When it came time for dinner, I noticed two large men coming from the kitchen, one wearing a chef's jacket, which seemed a bit unusual. But that was nothing compared to what I heard next: a grandmother advised us to keep it simple and not get too imaginative with our menu choices, to which the chefs quickly agreed. They clearly respect her authority, but this is where the simplicity ends. These chefs truly took her advice to heart. While they kept things simple, they expertly enhanced the flavors of each dish. I have a chef's coat myself, earned over 20 years of cooking, so I recognize the depth of flavor that can be achieved with fundamental techniques. Let’s start with the fried chicken. While it’s easy to make fried chicken juicy, achieving remarkable flavor is a skill. Even without the skin, the taste of the chicken still shines through, thanks to excellent marination—it's a pact with the fried chicken gods, perhaps even one that Colonel Sanders would envy. Now, about that chicken skin—it’s crispy and flavorful without making the whole piece greasy, and the breading stays light and airy. There’s some kind of magic at play here, or maybe the folks at Big Boys just have serious skills. Moving on to the chili—it’s not your average chili. This is a thoughtfully developed dish, with the flavors perfectly matched. The tender cornbread complements it beautifully, and it's seasoned so well that butter and salt aren’t necessary. Then there’s the pot roast. You might wonder if it’s missing something, but I can assure you that no extra gravity of flavor is needed. You don’t want to overshadow the wonderful tastes of the meat and vegetables. This is a carefully composed dish that feels as if it was crafted in a lab or perhaps cooked up by secret pot roast experts from another world, delivering perfection straight to a small town in Tennessee. So, how do I describe Big Boys? Simple food, expertly crafted and served with care. It's a delightful experience that I highly recommend.
Chicken Philly cheese sandwich was delicious! My husband enjoyed the buffet, said the wings, ass-in-law, potatoes, peas, cbblers were really good. Sweet tea is definitely sweet! Next time I'll go 1/2 1/2.
Home cooking for sure. Have a few things to work on but being newly opened, its expected. Food was good especially the stuffed peppers. Great salad bar. They have a hard time keeping food on the buffet as it went fast but they replenish fast. Will be back.
