Mr. G's At Peninsula Kitchen

It was my birthday dinner and Mr. G's provided an outstanding venue for the celebration!

I loved this restaurant when it was on Balboa Island and was so ready to try the new location. The atmosphere is not what it was on the Island but it made absolutely no difference to me. The food is beyond outstanding. Mr G can COOK! The menu is diversified and now has some of the items that were specials before as regular entree’s. If I lived closer I would be there by myself several times a week. His pasta , which is all freshly made is fabulous. I can’t possibly convey how much I love the food here. He is definitely a CHEF. I wish him well in his new location but he is definitely missed on the Island. I will most definitely return.

Nice place l, but took a long time for food and then was incorrect.

If you like Italian food, you will not be disappointed with the menu here, and you will be extremely impressed by the execution of the dishes. The entrees are easily 4 7 dollars lower in price than you would pay for the equivalent quality at any other socal Italian restaurant...and that is not even taking the great water views into account. Mr. G's previous location, on Balboa island, was cozy, and friendly. This new location has two levels of dining and drinking (both with water views), is much more spacious, and has parking in front yet it has lost none of the friendly service, and gracious hospitality that starts at the top, with the eponymous Mr. G himself. You would have a hard time not enjoying yourself here. The wine corkage fee is only $20, which is about average, and definitely lower than most quality Italian spots, but I'm convinced $0 corkage is the way to go. I'm not sure why more restaurateurs don't go this route. But I digress. Eat here...you'll like it.

Dinner and service was outstanding. The food was as good as it was in Balboa but with a great Bay view.
