The staff were very friendly and the candle lit bar with the log burners made it very cosy. Our bedroom was very large, if a little bit dated and the bed very comfortable, the breakfast was large for a full English (kept us going all day! , and my haddock was very tasty. The price is so reasonable that we will be going back again.
Classic country pub just how you would imagine rural Devon pubs should be like. Good beer too. Jan 2020 update. The pub is currently closed, don't know if permanent but phone number no longer current and website out of date
A cherished find. I can't recommend this place more highly. We had a hugely delightful lunch here the food was stunningly good. The welcome and service was great, and it was a sheer pleasure to spend time in such a classically timeless hostellery. We will return!
Absolutely amazing! It's a beautiful place to stay with wonderful food. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the building has a long and fascinating history. The staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the building and the surrounding area. They are helpful, polite, and genuinely interested in ensuring guests have an enjoyable stay. The owner is accessible and attentive as well. Guests can engage with locals at the bar or relax in the more tranquil lounge area by a cozy, traditional fire.
