Pure, solid fun and more than solid foodBetter and more unique (or innovative?) than the typical Mexican cuisine in this god forsaken country.
Ventured in here yesterday, purely on the abundance of veggie and fish options.
It's offical. My partner and Cobalt are two of "Hearts of Newtown" for the upcoming Newtown festival. To celebrate we went out for dinner (and to see if we could spot any posters). I chose Beach Burrito Company as we had not been there before and I was looking forward to some Mexican food. We ordered jalapeño poppers, mucho burrito fajita style and a jug of Oaxaca (rum based cocktail with watermelon in it). Now Jalapeño poppers are my partners thing and we order them every where we go that has them on the menu. These were 4 for $14 and according to him, these are the best ones we have found in Australia so far. It was noted that they leave the skin on the chillies and therefore the batter/breading comes off after biting them. We ordered two mucho burritos fajita style. This was not what I was expecting. I was imaging the ingredients of a burrito on top of a tortilla. In actuality it was a burrito with salsa and guacamole and corn chips on the side. The Mucho had "all of the meat", beans and rice. I also detected some chocolate (mole maybe) and some pickles (checking the menu pickled onions). So my partner rated the experience "a solid 7.5" slotting itself higher than Mad Mex and lower than Flying Fajita Sistas. Next time I want to try some other things. Especially the chilli cheese fries and/or a Californian style burrito.
