Kai On King - Newtown

Just can't get enough of this restaurant and their sushis. Aside from the fact that their price is reasonable it is also fresh and the staffs are very friendly. I think my all time favorite is the seaweed salad. The taste of their sushi and other dishes are always consistent. Texture of the food is always nice and interesting. Their lunch special is you consume 4 different plate is sushi and the fourth and cheapest sushi is free. Sushi price depends on the color of the plate. Prices are displayed for on the table.

Popped in when passing through on a purposeful visit to Newtown and found the sushi uninspiring. Tried a raw salmon and diced mango sushi but found it surprisingly bland. Tried another forgettable sushi. Wish that I'd tasted the soft crab sushi as other reviews said it is good and it appealed but after the other two sushi decided against it.Will try the a la carte menu next time.Restaurant clean, attractive and friendly.

Had lunch here for the second time in 2 weeks, was not disappointed. Great range of sushi rolls, salads, sashimi and special dishes available by order.Sushi was fresh and good flavoured. This place is well located and popular, as it is great value and its range goes a bit beyond your typical sushi train fare. Highly recommended for a quick lunch on the run.

Been going here for 7 years both before having kids and after! Kids love it they are always made welcome a quick healthy option.

We travel across the city to eat here and have done so for years. The previous Japanese owner has retired and sold the business to another trained Japanese sushi chef. Being somewhat fussy as there is so much rubbish sushi about, my husband and I wondered what might have changed. But we weren't disappointed. The new owner/chef has a light touch and doesn't squeeze the sushi to death and works a nice balance between the size of the fish and the amount of rice which is nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. Prices haven't changed and we are relieved that we still have our favorite sushi restaurant for a quick meal even though it takes us half an hour to get there.
