Seafood Risotto also excellent: We talked to Tom (a owner I believe and told him how great the meal and service was! Tori was our... server and she was wonderful. The mint aero cheesecake is TO THE FOR!! Can't wait to return next month and try the chicken parm : Thanks for a very memorable experience guys :
The restaurant was relatively empty when my husband and I arrived for dinner, but the bar area started until we finished our meal. My first impression was that it was a beautiful room, but I... was unimpressed by the fact that our table was sticky and we gave menus that were a bit crippled. Summary why our experience was two stars: The good: drinking is pretty fast, the Lammentferner was very good. The not-so-good: My pasta was overcooked with hardly any sausages and the people who in the bar (which seemed to be friends with the owner) were RUDE (I speak clique-y High School to anyone who would need to scoot through the bathroom). The bread was also served without butter (which I would have asked the server to check some for us). Will we be back? No. Are we recommending? No.
We had here on Thursday, 10 November for my friends BD. It was our first time here, but our friends were often there. I had the ravioli and my husband had pasta with the fish. We both enjoyed it very well...prepared and the taste was amazing. They even brought a huge piece of cheesecake with 4 spoons for us to share for my friends BD. The only drawback I would say was that it was frozen, as I think the front door was broken, as there was a sign of closing when you came in. But most people didn't pay attention. So we had to open our jackets....
Was so looking forward to this meal and it was very disappointing. At first the garage door was open and it was a ridiculously hot day and there were flies in the restaurant and in the kitchen. Not a great atmosphere Alfredo sauce had no taste at all... and the pasta was over boiled. Price-point for what you got but was good. Cheesecake was ok taste wise, but 9$ For a piece is simply ridiculous The “manager” wore nothing and was in the kitchen that is not hygienic. And the flies just turned me off Definitely remembers why I couldn't eat here anymore
Five of us came for a very early dinner. I was looking forward to the Spaghetti Carbonara, with pancetta and peas and served with a poached egg on top. I 'd never seen that before. It was a good thing we ordered the antipasto platter $28 ,...as it was loaded with salami and prosciutto and cheese and marinated eggplant and so on. My carbonara $21 was a huge disappointment. Where was the thick emulsion of guancale, bacon or pancetta fat, parmesan and egg yolk, that should have been coating the al dente spaghetti? Strada 's version of carbonara was a mound of overcooked, bland spaghetti with a thin 'sauce ', microscopic chips of pancetta and a few peas. And, yes, there a perfectly poached yolk not hard egg on top. What was wrong? I 'm certain the cook did not heat the pancetta in olive oil, did not toss the al dente pasta into the pancetta and oil, and did not make a slurry of egg mostly yolk , freshly grated parmesan and pasta water and mix that into the hot pasta. I actually ate only half of the serving, and spent the rest of the dinner trying to fish out bits of pancetta and peas. Maybe I should have twigged to the possibility this would not be 'real ' Carbonara: Why put a poached egg on already-eggy pasta? Secondly, the restaurant put small shakers of chili peppers and 'parm ' granules on the table, the latter consisting of small grains. Not real parmigiano reggiano or grana padano. The server does not come to the table with a grater. Heck, I don 't fault them for it. Those things are expensive. But those might have been clues to suggest this would not be 'real ' carbonara. My daughter 's burger looked great, as did my son in law 's chicken sandwich. Granddaughter 's ravioli looked fine, and she said it was great. My wife said her Asian chicken salad with crispy noodles was ok. She was disappointed that the insalata daniella sliced beef tenderloin, asparagus, roasted red pepper, carmelized onions and goat cheese on a bed of arugula and spinach tossed with our homemade red wine vinaigrette shown online is no longer on the now downsized menu.
