It's lots of locals, we were the only Americans in there and it was awesome. The food was superb, great people watching, and everyone coming into the place all knew each other, it was fun to see. It's like Cheers, but with Italian photos and cars and all kinds of cool stuff on the walls. It's a great place to just chill for a minute after walking and to practice your French. Food is great, service is excellent, and it's very affordable. Super nice owners and people hanging out here. Also it's close to the waterfront and lots of good shopping.
Looking for an afternoon refreshment on a hot day, we found this place after returning from Cap Ferat. It offered iced coffee and a place to sit down, just what we needed. It would have been nice to sit outside, but as with all French restaurants, smoking is allowed on patios. So we stayed indoors.
Despite the name this simple eatery is really a caff and a remarkable survival next to the Vieux Port. If you are happy eating on Formica covered tables surrounded by local characters who have probably lunched there most days for years, then do try it. They are open from around 06:00 to 17:00. Lunches are either a daily hot special, generous salads, pasta or bruschetta. Nothing fancy, but always well cooked and presented. Main courses are 9€; a half-litre of very acceptable house wine is 7€. This is working class urban France at its best.
We were in a hurry and needed something quickly for lunch. Great sandwiches, came with smile and friendly service.
