Went as a family for NYE dinner as we had eaten there before. Service felt a bit unorganised from when we arrived. It also felt very rushed. The menu had an amuse to start it never arrived. Apparently there was a wine pairing menu it was never offered. Pork Belly was well over cooked and could hardly be cut. The Barrumundi was good. Despite telling the waiter we are not in a rush, the food came out very fast one course after the other. Not sure I would return again as it was underwhelming experience from the kitchen and service.
I have mixed feelings. We had the duck spring rolls and Turkish meatballs for entree, both delicious. I had the beef burger and my husband had the barramundi for mains. No complaints about the beef burger, but the barramundi was practically inedible the table next to us ordered it also and we had a discussion about how oily and fatty it was (she didn’t eat hers either). The wine list is great, however, my husband and I both ordered a different glass of riesling each and when it was brought to our table the waitress didn’t know which one was which and didn’t give us the option to ask for a fresh glass…. A get what you’re given situation. Not ideal. In terms of the “view”… it’s fairly underwhelming. You’ll get a view of a couple trees and a residential building, not bad but certainly nothing to write home about. The restaurant is a cordoned off section of a large hall adjacent the hotel bar. Again, Not bad but nothing to write home about. Kind of reminds me of a lusher version of my university cafeteria. Apparently we had a limited menu the night we dined here… that’s fine, but maybe wait until the full menu is back as I think they’re out of sorts here at the moment. Good for a quick bite if you’re staying at the hotel, but overall I don’t think I would go out of my way to return.
I can't speak highly enough about our meal at View. Every one of my three dishes and my husband's two dishes were delicious. Inventive combinations of flavours I loved the green papaya and macadamia salad that accompanied the snapper and oh my goodness the chocolate custard dessert with bananas was out of this world. The space itself is not great a bit dim, a bit like you're eating in the corner of a giant hall which on the night that we were there was also leaking. But our Welsh waiter was charming and helpful and we were very happy. We also ate at Ricky's on this trip the prices there were MUCH higher and I didn't like the food as much (though the location is pretty special). We highly recommend View and would definitely eat there again when in Noosa.
It 's an attractive industrial-chic layout, but the wind howls up the stairs and openings and renders the heating units almost ineffective. We were attracted by a review in a local paper, but disappointed in reality. In spite of our booking and the restaurant being far from busy, we were left standing at a counter for some minutes before anyone bothered with us. Once seated it took an age for menus to arrive and orders to be taken. We now understand completely why they advertise slow food . Between us we ordered five different dishes so covered much of the menu. Nothing was memorable or worth the long wait. It was so disappointing we skipped desserts and coffee and hurried away to warm up elsewhere.
