Castaway Restaurant and Bar

One fish, two fish, raw fish, smoked fish! You walk into Harris's Smokehouse and it smells and looks like any normal shop.

This is where I want to go when I die, and thankfully I can go there when I am alive also. Harris's Smoked Salmon, it melts in your mouth like Salmon

Is there anything better that a nice piece of Salmon, seared skin side down so that it is nice and crispy, and served with a simple garlic butter and dill

In all our trips to Norfolk, this was a first time at Castaway - we'd heard good things. Castaway did not disappoint - friendly staff and great food. We arrived with a sleeping child who spent the entire time on the sofa by the fire - so that left two adults, a lively 8yr old grandson and an infant in a high chair. Entree, I had the Salt and Szechuan Pepper Calamari with Asian Herb Salad, Lemongrass Glaze and Cucumber Relish; my daughter the baked Baked Camembert , stuffed with Local Guava Jelly, rocket and served with Crostinis. For the main I had Organic Australian Saltbush Lamb Rack, Sweet Potato Fries, Mascarpone Cream, Crispy Kale and Cherry Port Jus. My daughter opted for a steak of the specials board as I recall. My grandson had fish and chips which he demolished and declared delicious - it looked great. We also got to try some of the smoked chips thanks to the kindness of some fellows at the bar - delicious. Speaking for myself both my dishes were first class. My Calamari and Lamb had all the right textures and flavours. My daughter and I decided we need to visit again. We had dessert and it was great but I can't recall what it was - chances of mine being a creme brulee are high but it was about 3 weeks ago and I have forgotten, except it was good and I will be back. We've heard the Pizza's are good so we'll have to try them sometime. It was a lovely dinner and I like the location and atmosphere. More Norfolk charm to beguile me. There is a menu online, but they have specials and kids menus and were very accommodating with the children in tow. There was a highchair for the baby.

We had a delicious vegetarian pizza. Pizzas are only available on a Friday night and you need to book in your pizza request as they get very busy understandably. The bar staff are very lovely and it is a great spot to relax and enjoy the view/ sunset.
