The restaurant was quaint and well decorated, the service was prompt and friendly… but most importantly… every menu item we had from appetizers to dessert were perfectly seasoned and well portioned. The food was amongst the best I’ve had in my 35 years in Newfoundland and I was so shocked with the bill (less than I thought) that I tipped double. Amazing. 10/10. Would drive 6 hours again to go here.
The menu offers a wide variety of options. We dined at this restaurant twice while on our trip and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The seafood lasagna, mac and cheese, vegetable stir-fry, and cod burger were all delicious. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and the service was excellent.
I ordered the cod au gratin which sounded good but was reheated with a microwave and suffered. The edges were stuck to the sides of the dish. The middle survived. I would give this a miss! The cod chowder looked better.
Was the worst meal I've had in a long time and overpriced too! I ordered the prime rib (I knew it was counter to the basic advice to not order a steak in a seafood place but I'd eaten seafood every day for a week so I wanted something different) and it was unrecognizable as prime rib: tough, grislely, and full of bones. The mashed potatos were cold and dry and the coconut cream pie we ordered for dessert had absolutely no taste. They forgot to put the sugar in it, I'm sure. Was like eating a tasteless gel on a piece of cardboard. When we complained to the waitress she said she'd have to taste test it herself later. They sould have given us back our $70 we wasted on a lousy meal!
We sat on the patio overlooking the bay and was such a lovely quiet spot. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and we learned so much about the local area from these lovely local ladies.
