Eve's Lunch - Norristown

Absolutely no lettuce! If you're here, you need to try the local specialty: the Zep sandwich. A Zep is not a hoagie, which typically has lettuce. Instead, a Zep features one type of meat, thickly sliced onions, thickly sliced tomatoes, provolone cheese, oregano, oil, and sweet peppers are optional. That's all there is to it. I have to say, this sandwich is incredibly delicious. Eve's offers outstanding food in this no-frills family-run shop. It’s a fun little regional specialty that is well worth your visit. P.S. I've been trying to convince my friend, who is quite the recluse, to go out for Zeps with me for a few months, but he won't step outside. I've taken to calling him Zep Boy, which brings me a lot of joy.

Claimed to be one of the few sandwich shops in and around Norristown that still serves an authentic zep—defined as "a hoagie without cheese" by a local expert—Eve's certainly lives up to the reputation. Their rendition captures this essence perfectly, demonstrating that simplicity can be a virtue. The sandwich features fresh meats nestled in rolls baked that very morning, complemented by sliced onions and tomatoes, a drizzle of oil, and a sprinkle of oregano. It's nothing extravagant, yet it surpasses the individual ingredients, making for a delightful meal.

Zeps are outstanding. Flew in from Florida and couldn’t wait to get one. Staff isn’t friendly at all. I tried to add an item to my order, the young lady didn’t hear me, she responded “WHAT?”.I said never mind because I’m not used to being spoken to that way. But the sandwiches are still the Best.

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid, and I can honestly say it's the best place for Zeps I've ever tried.
