It was noted on there website they were open Sundays from 12p to 10pm. We arrived around 5p to find the place closed. There were no signs outside the fence to say if the hours had changed. I found this frustrating. If your hours are going to change then you should update your website.
We seek this place out as soon as we arrive in North Bay. This time the Fish n Chips were delicious bass. The service was good, the fish moist and wonderful. The serving are generous. We haven't been here since 1918 but this restaurant has improved. The view of Lake Nipissing makes this a very special place. The prices are good too and they have local beer from the Gateway Brewery.
Our dining experience was delightful. The food was fresh and the service was outstanding. We arrived an hour early for our reservation due to a approaching storm, and the staff graciously accommodated us despite being busy. They even seated us at a fantastic table right by the water. The only downside was that the menu was different from what was advertised online, possibly due to Covid-related changes. Overall, we had a pleasant and enjoyable meal at this trendy restaurant.
We went to "The Boat" for the second time and I'm not sure why there are negative reviews. Our server was great, the food was delicious and came out quickly. The atmosphere and view were exceptional. The live singer added a nice touch! We were initially seated near the speaker, but when we asked to move because it was too loud, they happily accommodated us. We will definitely be back to "The Boat" next year when we visit North Bay. Tip: Try the coconut shrimp, it's amazing!
After hearing 3 friends having negative experiences my sister and I decided to still give it a shot as I am new to north bay and the location and live music seemed really awesome, which is pretty much where the pros end. It took close to 30 min to get our drinks. Ordered the bruschetta flat bread as an appy was okay but nothing special. Somewhat bland and dry. For dinner I had the burger and my sister had the fish tacos. She said, and I quote “it was a struggle to get them down”. Was literally a pile of iceberg lettuce with some nasty looking unseasoned fish chunks topped with some sort of salsa and a white sauce. The burger probably would have been decent minus the $1 fake cheese that came on it. When it arrived I asked for mustard and relish and was told they were out of condiments, despite the fact that every table around us had a styrofoam cup stuffed with all condiments. Maybe telling customers that you’re out of things like that before they order would be good customer service. Asked 2 times for water which was never brought. I’ve been in the food industry for 20 years and Overall it seemed like a careless effort of food and poor service. I’d go back for the live music and beverage but will never order food again.
