The Cupcake Bar - North Bay

The concept is great. I've been to several of these little places in bigger cities and usually they turn out worth the money. So we went with our daughter and while the pre-idea selection is good (you can make up your own as well) the size of the cupcake, taste of the icing and the overall freshness was just meh. The cupcakes are small .. About 1/2 the thickness of a normal cupcake. No cupcake sandwich could be made. The cupcakes also seemed like they had been baked a day or 2 prior- a bit stale. The icing,while there is enough put on, is stale and tastes like old butter. Not sure if it's made a few days ahead.. Left sitting out all day(s) or what but it tastes like butter that has sat out warm on the counter for a few days. At 10.00 for 3 cupcakes I expected it to be at least fresh. All 3 of our cupcakes tasted the same. Also the cupcakes are kept under the counter where you can't see so I'm not sure if they are in a bin or a plate etc and also the one glove technique still had my cupcake touched by a non gloved hand. Forks, napkins and small containers (plastic cups even) would of been nice as our daughter is still young and without any seating it's hard for a child to eat them by hand without making a giant mess. Even adults need napkins.

This place is closed, we had once went, and couldn't get over the prices for what you get. A peanut butter cupcake had 1 tiny small recces pieces in it.

It is a cute store but I found the cupcakes to be over priced and nothing really special. I would think that it would be hard to keep a cupcake business open though

The Cupcake Bar is this cute place downtown, hidden, almost missed it the first couple of times. They have quite a variety or you can design your own. They also make cakes to order and even do weddings, birthdays, corporate events, etc. It's a bit pricey for $3.00 a cupcake but you get a deal if you buy more. Worth a try and satisfying your sweet tooth.

We have tried this place about 10 times since opening. And have not been disappointed yet. They decorate the cup cakes in front of you as you place your order. A great little place in North Bay
