Sports Social Bethesda - North Bethesda

Before making a reservation, I phoned this restaurant to inquire if they would be showing the boxing match. They confirmed that they would. However, the service was extremely poor. It took nearly an hour to receive our drinks, and the bar was half empty, prompting us to order directly at the bar. To make matters worse, the manager informed me that they were not showing the fight because it was on DAZN. The Sports Social in Hanover, Maryland is airing the fight, but unfortunately, this restaurant is not. I understand now why they have a rating of 3.6.

I waited approximately 10 minutes before a hostess greeted me at the entrance of the restaurant. Our party of 8 ordered drinks and food simultaneously, but there was a delay in receiving our meals. Some of us received side items without our sandwiches or burgers, while others had appetizers served last or after their main course. It seemed quite disorganized. Despite this, Josh provided excellent service. He was attentive, kept us updated, maintained a cheerful attitude, and remained professional throughout our meal, despite our hunger-induced impatience.

I made a note of this information and returned on another day, only to find that the Sportsbook section was closed due to a security system issue. I continued to visit twice more without any problems. On one occasion, I was told that on Saturdays, the Sportsbook was open from 11 am to 12 pm. When I arrived at 12:30 pm on a Saturday, I found the doors locked. An employee explained that they were on a lunch break and would reopen at 1 pm. I was confused and frustrated by the mismatched hours of operation between the Sportsbook and the restaurant, especially given that the Sportsbook is prominently featured on the Sport and Social website. It would be helpful for the website to clearly communicate the hours of the Sportsbook, particularly for a sports bar. Additionally, it would be appreciated if the Sportsbook actually adhered to the operating hours provided to customers.

The server was present and attentive enough, and the busboy was great at taking away our plates! However, the nachos did not have enough cheese. And the menus were pretty nasty, dirty and sticky (gross). To be a sports bar, the layout isn't most efficient. As an interior designer, I would suggest TV's be visible to all guests -especially with reservations- not obstructed by columns and pillars that have lights instead of TV's on them, while blocking many TV's behind it. it was frustrating craning my neck to see around objects, past the blow-up scarecrow/jackolantern covering the scoreboard, trying to kneel in the seat to see TV's behind my booth, and from long distance past the blocked ones with the one visible television above my table on a game I did not want to see, and one I did want to see behind my booth facing my back.
