How can a dish that was supposed to be covered in cheese queso be so dry?? There were literally two small shrimp in the entire dish, a couple slivers of grilled onion, a tablespoon (maybe less) of cheese sauce in one corner of the plate, loads of barely grilled (still crunchy) green bell pepper chunks, and some dry, over cooked chicken beef pieces on a bed of tomato-y rice. The only positive was that it was a nice sunny day to sit outside at one of their sidewalk tables. The server was polite, but seemed to barely speak English and not at all apologetic when I expressed my disappointment in the food.
The Quesa Birria is a new dish and was awesome tacos brisket meat with cheese and the corn tortilla tasted good too! Chips and salsa are standard before the meal. If you want to save, drink water as all of these places charge $2.50 for a coke. The menu choices are widely varied. The service was fast and friendly and she checked on us often, which is great as we needed a little more salsa once, a little more coke another time and a little more sour cream also. If you are dropping someone off at the airport, try to do it on an empty stomach so you can eat here. Or if you are picking them up, bring them here after you pick them up. Airport is not far at all.
My husband and i came on a Saturday they were very busy. It didn't take long for us to receive our food. He had a bowl type dish with meat, black beans , and some other stuff it was really good. I had the Carnitas which you can't go wrong with that and it was awesome as well. I don't usually buy drinks because no one has better drinks than Mi Ranchos in Augusta GA but they were on point. I will definitely be back.
Needed a quick lunch from a business meeting. Service was quick but food was bland and mediocre. Lunch special had nearly no flavor other than fried burger. Nothing to make a detour for.
The reason we ended up at La Hacienda it was open at 9pm when the other 4 restaurants we tried were closed That was the biggest compliment I can give. Note: Make sure you call the restaurants to confirm closing time! Don't count on the times posted on TripAdvisor to be correct. MANY of the places we visited had different hours than posted. I felt sorry for our waiter, who was new and tried really hard. He did a great job! He was the only one I saw working, though. The rest of the employees I saw just sat around talking. When we asked what time the restaurant closed, he wasn't sure (as he was new, I guess? and he asked two of the other workers. They absolutely ignored him and continued talking/walking away from him. Shortly before we left, my daughter walked out of the women's restroom and told me that there was NO SOAP. How gross is that?! Luckily I carry hand sanitizer and wipes with me so we got her taken care of. Just at that moment, I saw our server wheeling a mop and bucket into the restroom, so apparently he was also having to do that job. I would have complained about the lack of soap, but we just left after that. He had enough to deal with! Meanwhile, there were 4 other workers sitting at the front door having a nice chat. We'll pass on La Hacienda the next time we're in town.
