We returned having realised that food was again being served at the Green Man. We are very pleased we did. The bar have been redecorated and the tables are not so close together, so it feels more spacious. We enjoyed a lunch time special which is a main and a dessert for £11.25. We are so glad that we can reinstate this pub as a lunch venue.
Ate here with gf and her parents. I had steak and ale pie as did her dad, gf had giant yorkshire with cumberland sausage filling, her mum had a jacket potato with chilli. All portions were large with plenty fresh veg or salad and an additional jug of gravy and all were tasty. I had a mandarin cheesecake which was also really nice. We had two rounds so in total 4 main courses a dessert, 4 pints and 4 medium glasses of wine the bill was 80 quid which I thought was a bargain. The food is simple and unpretentious but it is tasty and fantastic value. The service is also excellent I made a mistake ordering chips instead of mash, the guy who served us overheard our conversation and a few minutes later brought over a side of mash. The £10.95 meal deal for a main course and a dessert is especially good value and it's no surprise the place is packed, mainly with older people.
We like this pub because when you walk in nobody turns to look at you. There are new owners who are very nice, the meals are the same as when the other people ran it. Nothing has changed we are please to say. I went with my friend the following week and she said the same it’s still, as nice
Last minute birthday dinner and we were sat straight away. Fab menu for both the adults and child, with the specials being game meat; a delicious introduction if you've never had wild boar or venison. Looked after by the lovely (and very patient) Tom. Also very pleasant for solo diners; have had many a solo Sunday dinner there and was looked after brilliantly
