The restaurant serves delicious, fresh home-cooked food that is both tasty and hot. The two female servers were polite and friendly, and checked in halfway through the meal to ensure everything was satisfactory. The staff greeted us with smiles, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the pub is dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Although we didn't bring our dog on this visit, we plan to in the future. Overall, a pleasant and inviting dining experience.
The food at this restaurant is outstanding, especially the homemade pies. The atmosphere is lovely and I would highly recommend dining here. The staff are also great and the surroundings are beautiful.
Set in an attractive location in the village of Leasingham, The Duke of Wellington is a good looking old building with tables on the terrace and in the large beer garden for outdoor dining. The bar and table service were both run by a friendly and charming young woman who, in addition to bringing our food and drinks, also brought a couple of biscuits for our dogs. Their menu is printed on line, so we were already aware that it was fairly limited. From the three draught lagers Carlsberg, Moretti and San Miguel, I chose a pint of Carlsberg, whilst my wife had her usual mineral water. We both chose the Scampi buckets as starters, followed by mussels for my wife and the steak and ale pie for me. It was a proper pie with a generous meat filling, completely encased in pastry not one of those meat stews with a token slice of puff pastry on top. Accompanied by a large glass of Merlot, it was very satisfying, though I was not too keen on the triple cooked chips, which were typically stodgy Finished with a sticky toffee pudding, which was enjoyable. Lovely pub, very good service, worth a visit.
We went to this establishment for their Italian theme night. The female blonde waitress was friendly and took us to our table. She asked us if she get us a drink which we ordered and she brought them to us promptly and we ordered our meal. No starters very disappointing Our main courses arrived. The Tuscan chicken dish arrived with water on the plate and lacked any presentation. The garlic bread was probably from a local supermarket but was fine. The salad was limp and disappointing. The mushroom risotto was the worst risotto I have ever eaten. I believe the risotto rice was just boiled white rice. The creamy and mushrooms (lack of mushrooms) was probably a tin of Campbell soup. The mushrooms were not fresh. The waitress did know the wines that they had available. The wine was better than the food. No desserts available very disappointing The meal was very disappointing and bland. We paid our bill at the bar and as we left the staff were making comments to each other about us which we could hear. 4 members of staff on duty doing very little. The table of 5 next to us waited ages for their orders to be taken. Could have been so much better. Totally disappointing. Really need to rethink their theme nights and the staff they employ as well.
