This charming pub was a great choice for a cozy winter evening. The atmosphere was warm, thanks to both the fireplace and heat lamps. Booking was simple, and the cork ceiling made for easy conversation. The food was plentiful, with complimentary bread and butter as a nice touch. We both ordered the parma, but there seemed to be a mix-up with the regular version coming with bacon instead of ham. The Clive Parma with double bacon was a hit, and the chips came with a delicious sauce. The salad of rocket, Parmesan, and pear/apple was also a tasty addition to the meal. Overall, a good experience at this pub.
If I were a local, you would find me at this restaurant every Tuesday night. Honestly, the Trivia night was the highlight of our little vacation in Melbourne. The place was filled with people ranging from their twenties to sixties, from all walks of life. We all felt very involved and it had a sense of a big family! There were 4 rounds of quiz and an easy question that everyone knew, which earned us all free wicked shots! The pub may have seemed dingy at first, but you won't find any hipsters here. The walls were decorated with pictures and posters of David Bowie, rock n roll bands, and similar icons. The food was fantastic, with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians without feeling pretentious. My eggplant parma was flawless. We will definitely be returning to Townie on our next visit!
My local fave! I come here for an occasional drink and meal their menu is extensive and has a wide variety to choose from. I usually go for the Parma and it’s good! The atmosphere is quite homey and warm, a very cosy place to hang out with mates or even just you and a partner. Having food and drinks in the courtyard is lovely they also have heated booths there if you fancy a drink late at night.
I am so glad I can here off the recommendation off a friend because otherwise I would have walked straight past it and missed this cracking venue (looks a bit dingy from the street and is more the size of a bar than a pub so I wouldn't have thought they served food). The food (parmas of different varieties all round for my table, with me having the eggplant version) was spot on, extensive drink selection, quirky decor and a crowd who themselves were friendly and clearly having a good time made this a really good spot for a casual dinner.
