There were seven of us, each with a different dish and unique tastes, yet all our food arrived hot, beautifully presented, and tasted fantastic. We started with two appetizers: a sampler plate featuring a variety of dishes, and MoFongo, which can be made with beef or shrimp (I chose beef). Although I don't eat seafood or pork, my family members who do loved the other appetizer. The waiter brought us plantains with hummus as a starter. Overall, we had a wonderful time at this establishment. The chef/owner even came out to greet us and chat for a while. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Haitian cuisine with a hint of Asian influence. The chef prepares all the meals from scratch, so there might be a bit of a wait, but it was definitely worth it.
The food was absolutely delicious! Our group of four ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, and we loved every single one. The atmosphere was fantastic and cozy! Chef Ivan was very friendly, even taking the time to pose for a few photos with us and later stopping by to thank us personally. The appetizer sampler is a must-try, and the snapper was incredible—it reminded me of the fish we would catch on the beaches of Haiti. The rhum punch was also perfect. I am so proud of Chef Ivan for showcasing our cuisine and culture so beautifully! I will definitely return. A big thank you to the chef and the staff for their wonderful hospitality.
We had a fantastic dining experience overall. Chef Ivan and the staff were warm and welcoming. The menu features a diverse selection of Caribbean and some Asian dishes. I ordered the grilled red snapper, which was cooked to perfection. My brother chose the goat tasso, which was flavorful and tender. We're looking forward to sampling different entrees on our next visit. We highly recommend this restaurant!
I've been to Ivan's a couple of times before, even performing there once with "Manman Nanotte." When my brother mentioned he wanted Haitian food, I immediately thought of Ivan and his incredible accra and marinade. It was my brother's first time trying Chef Ivan's dishes, and he was completely blown away and thoroughly satisfied.
Chef Akra's sauce is outstanding! The griot was delicious as well, especially if you're a fan of pork.
