It was something I had not expected, and believe it or not- something I hadn 't even looked for. I waltzed in towards the end of the day for the business, and of course it was kinda barren. Who would have guessed? But I was under the impression that it was going to be your common cookie-cutter restaurant with a few niches here and there. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see there was some love put into the menu and the people behind the counter were honest about what they had. I outright asked 'Do you guys serve good food? ' Always knocks people off their game, and some are BRUTALLY honest, but the person behind the counter was sincere when they said it was good. I ordered the Catsu Chicken? I think that 's what it was called, and the food was delightful! Nice chicken on top of rice, with two flavorful Gyoza and some unique noodles to top it out. That and they had an array of tasty sauces as well. It was filling and just enough to call it a good- no, a great dinner. My only complaint however is that so much of their menu is crossed off! A dozen things are taken out and I really want to see what a place like this has. Of course, regardless, what they served was still very delicious. It 's an itch you don 't even know you need to be scratched until you try it yourself! Because I 'll be honest- I was going to go somewhere else but found myself lost and ending up here instead. Best mishap ever! (And probably better of the two I could have picked.
I have to update my review with the new management and cooks and can still happily recommend anything on the menu. The complimentary seaweed soup is still salty and has a strong, rich flavor. Chashu bowl has delicious and tender pork belly. Kalbi beef short ribs have a fantastic sauced flavor that sets into the rice. The tofu, while not as crispy, has a great sesame seed sauce.
A very nice restaurant to eat no matter the occasion. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I ended up eating the bowl of Dae Bek level 5 of spiciness (they have 9 levels). It was delicious, very fulfilling, a bit spicy, but as someone who likes spicy i will probably upgrade to level 7 next time. It was nice to also listen to some K-Pop while eating, which by the way the menu has fun names for their bowls.
On a positive note, my food was excellent. I plan to keep coming here, but I'm disappointed that my favorite spot isn't quite the same anymore.
The food here is excellent. Each dish is made fresh upon ordering, rather than being pre-made, which ensures everything is top-notch. I appreciate that they offer complimentary water with your meal. The staff is also very friendly.
