Lucky Dog Tavern - North Smithfield

What bothered me the most was finding out after ordering that there was a time limit on our table, as we had hoped to relax and enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. The food took a while to arrive, and we were not offered dessert or coffee afterwards. I personally will not dine at a restaurant that limits my dining experience, as I find it disrespectful and greed-driven on the part of the restaurant owner. In my travels in Europe, I have found many small cafes and restaurants that welcome patrons to linger, especially in Italy where leisurely dining is the norm. The servings at this restaurant were large, which may appeal to some, but not to me. It seems contradictory that with such generous portions, diners are expected to eat quickly. In situations where others are paying for the meal, I would never complain about the food to avoid causing discomfort. In this case, I quietly mentioned to my brother that my salmon was dry, and he agreed. I gave the remaining food to him to take home for his son. Although this restaurant is popular and my review may not impact it, I believe in sharing my honest opinions on dining experiences through platforms like Google and TripAdvisor, as I rely on others' reviews myself. This review reflects my personal perspective on this particular dining style.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that you almost want to keep to yourself, but at the same time, you can't help but rave about it to everyone you meet because it's that good. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff are wonderful, and the food is so delicious that we wanted to come back for dinner the same day! The menu is extensive and impressive, and we wanted to try everything on it. Our bartender, Zack (who may have also been jokingly called the tallest bartender), was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and drinks, and he effortlessly listed and explained everything to us. He was also very friendly and attentive. Once we received our food, we were completely hooked. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and outstanding food!

Without a doubt, this was one of the best meals we've had in a while! The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection, and the seafood casserole with champagne cream sauce was divine! The staff were friendly, and the bartender was extremely knowledgeable. As a Chef myself, I was thoroughly impressed. Make sure to call ahead for reservations, even if it's just for two people! We absolutely loved it.

The Lucky Dog is always such an amazing experience. You will with no doubt leave full and totally happy with everything you could get. My family and I have been here a handful of times and it is consistent in the quality of the food as well as the service. The space can get a bit cramped but the meal will distract you from that altogether. The escargot was a dream, the oysters were PHENOMENAL, the lobster was amazing, their swordfish Mozambique was also spectacular. Definitely add this to your list of MUST GO’S you will not regret it!!!!

Definitely a must go!! Sherry Amanda are phenomenal at the bar. The menu is the best. You’ll have a hard time deciding on what to eat. You can’t go wrong.
