As evening approached, we decided to have dinner there. Unable to get into a steakhouse, we ended up at a Japanese restaurant. The waitress was quick to give us menus, and we were surprised by the higher prices compared to other eateries. We ordered three dishes initially, but added two more as we were unsure if it would be enough for the two of us. Our plates arrived filled with delicious tempura, sushi, sashimi, California rolls, and a large bowl of yakitori with rice. The yakitori alone could have been a satisfying meal. The total bill came to $96.50 without drinks, which we found to be on the pricey side compared to suburban restaurants. However, if we had not added the extra dishes, it would have been just enough without any food going to waste.
Despite being a Saturday night and not very crowded, the service was slow at this restaurant. We had to repeatedly ask the staff to bring wine glasses and open the bottle, leaving us to do it ourselves with the corkscrew left at the table. The menu was not clear about the wagyu, as two servings had to be ordered which doubled the price. The portions of food were not properly cut, with large pieces of chicken that we had to cut ourselves to share. Despite these issues, the food was fresh and tasty, and the prices were reasonable.
I visited this restaurant for the first time and it took an hour for our food to arrive for two people. On my second visit, the same thing happened. The food is good, but the long wait makes it not worth the hassle. On top of that, they forgot one dish and took a long time to bring out another person's food in our party of four. There is only one sushi chef, so sushi orders are extremely slow. We also had to repeatedly ask for tea refills, as they never left a pot on the table for us. The small tea cups were inconvenient, and the prices were not cheap. Overall, I do not recommend dining here for a pleasant experience. I will not be returning.
My daughter and I went to the old Arnotts Biscuits factory in Homebush, Sydney for a look around. It's amazing how a precinct can be developed!! Evening was approaching, so we decided to stay on for a meal. After unable to get into a steakhouse, we settled into this Japanese restaurant. The waitress was very prompt, menus were in our hands before we sat down. We were really amazed with the prices - way over the usual eateries. We selected three dishes. Afraid that it was not enough for two, since the waitress was still waiting... we added 2 more. The plates came, tempura, sushi, sashimi, California rolls.. And the yakitori came in a large bowl with rice underneath. Just the yakitori was good enough as a meal by itself. The bill came to be $96.50 not including drinks. I would consider it pricey by suburban standards. But, if you were to take away the 2 additional dishes we added later, it would be just sufficient, let along feeling sorry that so much food was wasted.
Whilst not crowded on a Saturday night, the wait for service was too long. Staff had to be chased up to bring wine glasses then again to open the wine -- which was met with leaving the corkscrew at the table for a real do it yourself experience. Watch the wagyu - the menu is not really clear - you have to order two serves minimum so it will double the price on the menu. The food was not properly cut into portions - we had large pieces of chicken that we had to cut ourselves to share around the table. Other than that the food was fresh and tasty and the price was reasonable.
