As a regular customer, I have never had any complaints about this Chinese restaurant. My favorite dishes are the lemon chicken, deep-fried ice cream, and banana split. The food here is always top-notch, and the service is excellent.
Stepping into Liu Rose feels like stepping into a scene from a James Bond movie – specifically The Man With the Golden Gun (1974), which was filmed at The Sea Palace, a floating restaurant in Hong Kong's Aberdeen Harbour built in 1958. Despite the modern exterior mural, the restaurant's darkened glass facade doesn't give away the opulent interior. The well-stocked bar, with its faded red leather seating, is surrounded by a stunning ceiling dating back to 1971. Hexagonal ceiling features hold elegant chandeliers that illuminate the jade green ceiling details. As you pass through circular red and gold door arches from the bar to the dining area, the late afternoon light adds a sparkling touch to the gold walls. A fish tank serves as a room divider, adding to the unique atmosphere.
It was a Saturday night and we had initially made a reservation at another restaurant (Cedrus in Ryde) to celebrate my spouse's business being nominated for an award. However, we had a negative experience there and decided to leave. Surprisingly, when we called Liu Rose, they had availability for us. The restaurant was bustling when we arrived, but we were seated promptly at a nice table. The staff were attentive, helpful, and friendly, with one in particular being very cheerful and engaging with us and other guests. The food was exceptional, as always. We enjoyed the marinated calamari, beef with honey and pepper, and mixed vegetables with nuts. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, it was a fantastic evening out. I highly recommend this restaurant.
A great review would not do justice. While the food is okay, the onions were undercooked, They are kind of like a fast food restaurant. Also TAKEAWAY as there is extra 3 or 4 dollars to sit down and eat...I guess its for the service and the tea and that.
This place is practically a Concord institution, I have been going to Liu Rose with my family since I was little and as an adult I continue to go back again and again. Great variety and great taste!
