The event was sold as 5hrs with many things not there on the day wishing tree, markets, the grinch, face painting (to name a few! . It’s also sold as 15 to a group, the place was absolute CARNAGE very small barn with easy 100 or more people crammed in. The ‘elf passport control’ was an empty pasting bench with no one manning it the staff were clueless at what was going on. They gave out patterned paper chains to identify who was where they even confused themself it was a free for all after 40mins we left. The frozen show was embarrassing we were summoned to it 4 times to fill a void it was cheesy kids holiday music … oh and the Yuletide menu was chips and hotdogs, the card machine didn’t work I waited 25mins for chips that I ended up walking away from.
We went to high house barn for a Gaze and graze night. It was our first night away as a couple and we were very excited. Having had out first date stargazing with Liam who was looking after the stargazing portion of the evening, we knew it would be a good night. The yurt we stayed in was lovely. Big double bed, fluffy bedding, wood burner and a good amount of space. After enquiring about the fire pit prior to arrival, I was a little disappointed to see that there wasn't one in spite of being told there would be. As it happened, the weather put a stop to us being able to use one anyway, but having been told there would be one, we had bought stuff with us so we could sit out under the stars. Awwww! We also had no wood for the burner in the yurt so had to ask for them to pop some in the yurt whilst we went for the stargazing. Minor issues and quickly resolved, we got on with our night. The food was average at best. Overcooked pasta was the meal of the day. After paying £165 for the stay with a hot buffet, we were both expecting something a little better than that The reminder of the evening went well. We headed back to the yurt for around 9.30 and settled in for the night. Unfortunately, mother nature was having a field day outside and there were very high winds. Whilst I would never hold an establishment responsible for mother nature's temper, we had issues in the yurt that were avoidable. As a seasoned camper, I am used to being in all types of weather, but the yurt had a wooden door with a latch and no lock on it. As the wind got stronger, the door began to rattle and bang and even blew open on a couple of occasions. We wedged a bag against it in an attempt to stop the noise. At best, it stopped the door blowing open but there was still a rattle. Again, the weather is not the reason for this review. This was avoidable with a lock of some kind so that the door would be more stable. About an hour or so after that. A small area of the yurt began to come away because of how high the wind was. This not only created a draft, but we were unable to find a way of closing it back up. We persevered until 1am and then packed up and drove home. Between rattling doors and the draft, we had both had enough at that point. The reason I post this is there have now been 4 emails sent to the site with regards to the issues that we experienced, the first actually sent on the way home at 1am on Saturday morning. We have had absolutely no response which is utterly disappointing. I would have liked to resolve this privately, but the lack of contact has made that impossible. This was not a route I wanted to go down but I am hoping that this review will mean that they will respond to the emails already sent. Had you asked me about the customer service and response time prior to this, I would have given them 10 out of 10. The lack of contact has drastically changed that assessment.
This was supposed to be a Magical Christmas Adventure to remember lasting about 5 hours. 2adults and 2 children cost £90.00. It’s hard to know where to start with this review as it was so awful. The rooms which were used inside were all freezing. There were not enough chairs for the children to sit on. There was only one bowl of icing for more than 15 children to decorate their biscuits. More was made but it was too late. There were not enough plates to put the biscuits on. Mrs Claus couldn’t understand why there was no Christmas music on in the room. The room chosen for Santa Claus was so poorly decorated and the white paper to hide the glass windows was falling off. The magical frozen mini show was a disgrace and certainly not a show in any sense of the word. We were supposed to indulge in some delicious festive food and drinks from the yuletide menu. Well this did not exist. But you could buy a hot dog etc from an outside table in the cold. The coffee from the urn was warm at best and there was one spoon to use. The quaint Christmas market did not exist. The face painting did not exist. I could go on but I think that will do. Some staff agreed that it had been very badly organised but I must say the staff did the best they could. Most people left after 3.5 hours. Elizabeth Fairney
Made a booking for a murder mystery weekend for 2 adults for my husbands birthday treat to include a stayover on thd 9th December 2023. Sadly on the morning, they had tried contacting me to cancel the event however we could still take the cabin, otherwise we could have a refund amongst other offers. We took the refund. A week later, after numerous calls, messages and emails, they are ignoring me. Gutted, as it is so near to Christmas and I've outstanfing bills to pay. They are due me £285. You aught to be well ashamed of yourself, this is no way to run a business. I dealt with a lady called Kirsty.
We visited high house barn for the Christmas event. And it was amazing. The santa was brilliant and our little boy loved every minute of it. Laura was very attentive and friendly. She made sure our time was special. Thank you Laura.
