Our rating is below (5 is the highest)Service: 4 – if you’re dining in, you’ll get a number they’ll bring your food to the table.Ambience – 4 – nice casual contemporary café – I loved the couch 2 chairs beside the gas fireplace. Maybe a challenge if you have more than 4 people dining in. Ideal for 2 people. It was busy. If you intend on dining in, you’ll need to be here before the peak times.Food: 4 If you love desserts gooey cinnamon buns, go no further. There are lots of desserts (I counted over 36 kinds of dessert bars) pastries. They have simple lunch items such as soup (only had one type of soup) grilled sandwiches/paninis. If you like good quality coffee, they serve Illy. We had the tomato basil soup which I found a bit on the salty side. We shared the spicy chicken sandwich which wasn’t too spicy. There wasn’t much chicken inside and found it a bit dry. The sandwich was about $15.A nice local coffee place to visit whether you’re in the Edgemont neighbourhood or enroute to Grouse Mountain. It’s worth the detour. There’s free street parking around the area.
**Service: 4** – If you choose to dine in, you'll receive a number, and your food will be delivered to your table. **Ambience: 4** – The atmosphere is a pleasant blend of casual and contemporary, and I particularly liked the cozy seating arrangement with a couch and two chairs by the gas fireplace. It may be a bit cramped if you have more than four people, so it's best suited for smaller groups. **Food: 4** – If you're a dessert lover, especially of gooey cinnamon buns, this is the place for you! They offer a wide selection of treats—over 36 types of dessert bars and pastries. For lunch, they have simple options like soup (though they only had one type during my visit) and grilled sandwiches or paninis. The coffee is of high quality, made with Illy. We tried the tomato basil soup, which I found to be a bit too salty. We also shared a spicy chicken sandwich, which lacked a bit of chicken and was somewhat dry. That sandwich was priced around $15. Overall, this is a charming local café to visit, whether you’re in the Edgemont neighborhood or heading to Grouse Mountain—definitely worth a stop! Plus, there’s free street parking available in the area.
I absolutely loved the pastries; they were the most delicious ones I had during my trip to Vancouver.
I've visited Bjorn Cafe twice before because of their "amazing" tomato soup, and I was really looking forward to having it again today. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed as the soup was overly salty—almost inedible, despite my attempts to enjoy it. When I brought this to the staff's attention, their response was rather dismissive, with a sort of shrug as if to say, "Yeah, we know it's salty." They didn't offer any solutions or alternatives. This experience was certainly not in line with my previous visits, and the staff seemed indifferent to my feedback. We ended up leaving our bowls nearly full and walked out of the café. The staff's lack of concern was quite disappointing, and it seems they may continue serving the soup the same way to others. Overall, I'm very let down by this visit!
Without a doubt, this place has the best pastries in all of the North Shore. The shop is gorgeous, the staff is friendly and truly wonderful, making it a real gem in this already charming little village.
