The food was delicious, with pasta dishes large enough to share. The deep dish pizza was particularly good. Although the wine list was small, it had some fantastic options. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely return.
The restaurant offers a unique twist on traditional Italian cuisine, with dishes prepared by an Indian chef and served by a non-Italian waitress. Despite the diverse origins of the staff, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy in this charming European eatery.
Just like the old Nick's, but with much better food. The atmosphere was pleasant, service was good, but prices were higher than the old Nick's. Be cautious of the additional items you can order without knowing the cost. We were a group of six, and a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill, on top of taxes and wine. This was surprising and disappointing. I don't plan to return, and I'll make sure to warn my friends about the added gratuity in the future.
My wife and I decided to give Pepino 's an attempt and were very disappointed. My Rigatoni with shrimps was $37. The pasta was undercut and fused with my teeth. The shrimps were more like shrimps. My wife Caesar Salat was a sloppy bowl of Romaine with too much dressing and cheese. The staff was friendly, but not very attentive. No offer of freshly grated cheese or ground pepper. The preset tip on the credit machine was a choice between 18, 20 or 25%. The percentage increase is insulting when considering that food costs are overheated so that the tips automatically go up. Expect that a male enters 25% of food and taxes is a bit much.
This is clearly a favourite for folks in the 'hood, including our friends who live nearby. We were visiting from Ottawa and went here for dinner. I had the linguine with prawns and I found it to be rather bland. Lots of quantity, for sure....My wife had shrimp scampi and said it was good. We split an appetizer and had a few drinks and the total was $222 (plus tip), which isn 't bad. The atmosphere is fun (kitchy) and the service (Tess) was great, but I wasn 't blown away.
