This comes down to where the cook originated and would have grown up eating it the same way. Anyhow, their food here is not bad, doesn't taste too westernized. Would love extra garlic in the fish sauce though. The ladies are friendly and I haven't had any problems in the past.
My partner has never had Vietnamese food and I encouraged him to share a Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi (vietnamese baguette) before catching the seabus. He loved it!! We both love cilantro and the flavours just popped! It was perfect to tide us over and not spoil our appetite for dinner. We sat outside there was a solo musician playing on the waterfront and great people watching opportunities. We will both be back to try other menu items!
Being hungry, I walked into Lonsdale Quay Market as soon as the doors opened at 9 sharp. Most food stall vendors were still setting up.... as was the lady at Vinam.... The Seafood Noodle Soup was ready within 5 minutes..... but even after adding some hot-sauce, my soup was lacking flavour.... Too bad, because I really like Vinam's menu selection and prices.....
At the Lonsdale Quay (BEST view of Vancouver on a sunny day) got tired of salad and sandwiches, decided to order from Vinam Vietnamese take out stall. What a nice surprise. We both had the combo plate with skewered chicken, spring roll and salad. WOW, it was so much better than same order at many pho houses I have been to. The chicken was perfectly cooked, nice and tender with great seasoning. The (fried) spring roll was nothing short of superb. So much so, I went back to order another roll to take home as an appetizer with our evening cocktail. On a sunny day Lonsdale Quay has the very best view of Vancouver. On a rainy day, sit inside no table clothes...it's a food court ! I will be going back no only for lunch, but for a take out for dinners at home.
We got four tiny pieces of dried out over cooked chicken and a shrimp salad roll that was all bitter Romaine lettuce a teeny scrap of rice noodles and two shrimp in total cut in half and spread out through the salad roll to look like there were four shrimp. The price was $12.00. Do not eat here.
