Have visited this pub last three weeks on Saturday night about 10pm to catch up with a few friends. Last night (3rd July 2021) one of our party asked landlady/owner to turn music down. His brother had just passed away and he wanted to chat. She said that there had been alot of football supporters in the pub who had spent more money than us and refused to turn it down despite tha fact that apart from the five in our party there was only herself and a couple of others at her table. Also one or two in another room. She said basically that if we did not like it we could go elsewhere. Disgraceful tirade from someone who should be welcoming back trade after being locked down for so long. Needless to say we wont be going back again. No masks worn when moving around and no record being kept of visitors in accordance with requirements for test and trace purposes. The one good thing was the barman.
Wanted lunch when driving through village, decided to see what was on offer. Friendly welcome, shown into the dining area, well set out, with plenty of room to get round tables. Menu was good, ranging from sandwiches/baguettes up to full meals. Hubby had all day breakfast, local sourced products, which looked and tasted lovely. Well cooked and not swimming in fat. I chose a jacket potato, with a tikka masala filling and it came with plenty of filling and a really good mixed leaf side salad. Very impressed with the meals and the cost. Service was at table, again very good, without being intrusive drinks brought to table too. Will definitely be visiting again to sample the main meals.
We called on this pub twice now for lunch and both times it cannot be faulted. not often you see a beef strogonoff on a menu and it was perfect. Loved the garlic bread kept warm in foil. Staff very attentive.
A very friendly pub with good pub grub. They accommodated our group of 12 including preparing a meal for our dairy intolerant grandchild. The food was ideal and washed down with a very well kept real ale.
