The entrance to the restaurant building set the scene... a magical lit arched tunnel. The waiting area is a spacious bar. Stairs lead up to a lovely restaurant with a relaxing ambience. The menu is extensive, the food truly excellent and the waiters professionally light-hearted. Yes, a couple of very small mistakes were made but these were as a result of a lack of clarity from us. A fabulous night, not cheap, but very well worth the money! Highly recommended.

This place is lovely and great for pictures. Food was ok and came out very fast! Although, what let’s the whole place down is the staff. Our waiter was extremely rude and dismissive. He bashed me on the arm and has left a bruise he didn’t even acknowledge or apologise until I told him what he had done. He made my younger family members feel uncomfortable and awkward it was shocking. He had no manners or respect what so ever. I’ve read many bad reviews about the staff here and they are all true! Although, the young girls in the bar down stairs are lovely and very polite it’s a shame that the waiting staff are so bad. Definitely will not be returning and wasting any more money at the place!

We returned once again to San Giovanni for my birthday. The food and wines are good, the views are lovely and the staff friendly and polite. I stayed with tradition and took olives with bread for starter and “Polo Ripieno” with sauté potato for main course. My wife took the “Avocado San Giovanni” for starter then “Halibut” for main course. The Kleinkloof Chenin Blanc accompanied these. The beautiful Light Tunnel near the main entrance would be worthy of a visit in itself. Another lovely birthday celebration.

The food is nice, however they do not allow you to take any of your food home if you don’t finish it! They won’t even put it in foil, we asked why and apparently the manager has banned it. Such a waste, and feels wrong when you’ve paid for it.

Very nice location, warm friendly service and really good Italian food. We went to celebrate a special occasion and we will be back again.
