The Mac and cheese and poke were just okay.We had a new server take over our table 10 minutes after seating, she did not introduce herself or let us know about the auto gratuity on parties of 6. One of my friends ordered a traditional margarita which was not listed on their cocktail menu. It came out and did not taste like a traditional margarita, so she asked our server if she could get another drink. The server went back to the bar and let us know that their restaurant does not make margaritas as they are traditionally made, but that she cannot take back the drink or remove it from the bill- even though their margarita recipe was not on the menu and the server did not let us know that it was made differently.
The food was delicious but the portions are small, considering the high prices. We went for the oyster special. The oysters were fresh but man are they tiny. Any smaller, the malpagues could be mistaken for Kumamotos. The $30 pitcher of sake sangria is thin on the sake but heavy on ice cubes. My favorite was the fried chicken, much better than the run-of-the-mill karaage in town. But is it worth $16? Don 't think so. The 'must-try ' Japa Burger is disappointing. They are sliders made with not so fresh buns. The patties were dry and tasteless, unsalvageable by the Japa sauseMy wife came here a year ago and noticed the portions were much more generous. Still, the taste of the food was very good and the service was ok, just nothing to write home about. I don 't regret going but do not plan to return anytime soon. 3.5-4 stars overall.

During my inaugural visit to a Japanese restaurant, I had the pleasure of indulging in Sushi and a variety of other authentic Japanese dishes. Although I must acknowledge that the establishment leans towards the higher end in terms of pricing, the culinary experience more than justified the expense. The delectable flavors of the dishes left a lasting impression, and the enjoyable company of friends further enhanced the overall experience.
I've visited both the Yonge location and the Shops at Don Mills, and I personally preferred the vibe at Yonge—possibly because there was some great old-school music playing during our visit. However, I've been going to the Shops at Don Mills lately since it’s more convenient for parking. The dishes are designed for sharing, so they come in smaller portions. Everything we ordered on our most recent visit was tasty—not outstanding, but definitely enjoyable. The service was friendly and fairly attentive. The space isn’t the largest, but it features high ceilings, and with patio season in full swing, it practically doubles in size with plenty of guests dining outside.
