I have been a loyal customer at The Keg for many years. It is my favorite steakhouse, without a doubt.
Street and Sheppard, but it closed down. Now, a new Keg location has opened up in North York and it is fantastic. The food is delicious, the service is top-notch, and the ambiance is cozy and inviting. If you're looking for a great steakhouse in the North York area, look no further than The Keg.
I have been living in this area and dining at small rooms for more then 30 years. The steaks at this restaurant are great value!Highly recommended is the 27 oz. Rib Steak!!!!!! Kathy and Nick are gracious hosts! Expect simple 1970's decor atmosphere, old school service with great food value! You can pay a lot more at fancy places downtown but why would you if you live/work uptown nearby Finch & DufferinJust think fantastic steaks at most reasonable prices!
On a recent trip to Toronto we came here for dinner atn the recommendation of our hotel's front desk staff (we were looking for a the nearest 'non-chain' restaurant to our hotel). Despite their directions we still managed to drive past it twice before realising where it was, and even after we'd parked up just outside we weren't 100% convinced we'd made the right choice; once inside the 'unique' decor did little to convince us otherwise. That aside, we were greeted promptly and politely, sat in a central part of the dining room, the order was taken, the food arrived promptly and was good. I suspect we were the only 'paying diners' at the time thiugh. Apart from a noisy group in a private dining room next door (like naughty children, they were heard but not seen! and I never saw any food delivered) and the family of the owners themselves (who were having their evening meal at the other end of the dining room by the kitchen entrance just out of sight but conversing in half-English / miso-Elliniko), that was it. The conversations of both groups were impossible to ignore though. The food deserves a better review, but it's not just about the food & service. The owners could certainly work on the kerb appeal a little and I have had quieter meals in shopping mall food courts.
