This Zi char restaurant, under the ownership of Divine Realm, offers a slightly above average dining experience with similar dishes to other places, but with unique variations in flavor, ingredients, and cooking techniques. Overall, most of the dishes we tried were delicious and met our expectations, although the dumpling noodles were a bit too heavy in wheat or doughy for my liking. The oily carrot cake, on the other hand, was outstanding, with a strong fragrance that stood out despite the thick layer of oil, which usually overpowers other flavors.
SHU is a vegetarian restaurant that specializes in Chinese zichar-style dishes. We tried dishes like Sambal Petai, 3 Cups Tofu, Sweet Potato Leaves Soup, Assam Laksa, KL Noodles, and Steamed Pomfret "fish." All of these, plus two plates of white rice, were only $50. The portions are generous and suitable for 4-5 people. The restaurant is busy during lunch and dinner hours throughout the week, so be prepared to wait for a table. However, the service is quick, and all the dishes arrived promptly at our table. SHU also has another location at 259 Jln Kayu, Singapore 799488, open from 10:30 am to 10 pm.
SHU food is delicious but the quantity it's abit less but it is okay for me as I've been there quite a few times. #Veganuary
Recently they have an air-con space which is more comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they remember request and accede if possible. Food is very good and standard is well maintained.
