—Response to new owner: it was most definitely what used to be Regalo. If this restaurant was taken over by new ownership as I have seen the “under new management” sign up for months now, I would highly suggest rebranding and changing the name. Not sure if ownership changed, but the food was beyond gross. Avoid and go to Fattusco’s. There’s a reason why Regalo is always empty and Fattusco’s is always busy and recently expanded!
The food here is exceptional as well as the service.
Randomly stopped in for a quick grandma slice. I had to ask who made the sauce and Joe introduced himself . The sauce was delicious! Flavored just perfectly, the crust was light and crispy, and mozzarella was soft and fresh, not gummy and hard like some places! Chef’s kiss ?? ?? ? will be back !!
FINALLY BEST CALZONE SINCE I WAS A KID IN QUEENS: If anyone ever asks you what is a Calzone? you tell them to go here, because this is it. This is what a Calzone is and chef Joe takes great care to make it right. The dough/crust is sturdy, crispy, yet not thick, like a slab of bread some places make. You can 't even find the seam to where it 's joined, so perfectly made and perfectly baked. The inside is filled, but, not overfilled; its evenly dispersed. And it is not a wet, runny unbalanced ricotta, or a mass of thick runny mozzarella. Just the perfect blend of ricotta and mozzarella which in itself is fresh, has body, as if it was just made. I wish I had taken pictures. My word do not do it justice. So, IF YOU WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT A CALZONE IS then go to Regalo in Northport. I recommend NOT getting added stuffings (like ham, sausage, etc... UNTIL YOU TRY IT PLAIN. Then go crazy because this Calzone will stand up to anything you add but it doesn 't need anything it is perfect the way it is...OK side of sauce if you need to, but first cut it in half, then, bite into it from the cut side for that first bite wonderful experience. Thanks Regalo and chef Joe.
