I visited this restaurant with 2 friends on Friday. Overall, when we paid the bill we provided a 25% tip without looking at the bill closely since the waitstaff was hovering over us when she handed over the bill. When we looked at the bill, we were surprise to find they overcharged a fish/chip dish by an additional $10, then we saw a $2 charge for a red sauce for the calamari as we did not like the white sauce provided. And a $5 charge for water. Plus, a 3% added surcharge for using our credit card. Overall, very disappointed that we all agreed never again.
We went to walk around the Village of Northport on a Sunday night and ended up at Skippers for some dinner and drinks. We started with a few drinks and then asked our waitress Erin for some recommendations for dinner. Erin was very knowledgeable with menu options and was able to point me towards some of the most popular and delicious plates. She recommended me to get the swordfish which was excellent! We also ordered the salmon, and steak tacos. Everything was very good so we decided to stay for dessert. We got an order of the raspberry crème brûlée, and the bread pudding. Again, everything was fresh and delicious. Throughout the rest of our time there Erin was very helpful, and courteous and kept all our drinks refilled. The restaurant is located right on the corner nearest the water in Northport. On a nice day you could sit outside and get the cool breeze off the water with a beautiful view of the harbor with all the sailboats. I would certainly recommended trying Skippers!
My review- fish and chips- the fish was covered in massive batter and nothing had flavor. Thumbs way downs Pasta- ricotta and lemon- dry , barely any sauce to speak off. Used the oil from the free bread basket and threw it in for some flavor. Definitely mega disappointed and won’t ever return there. My table was at the last table at back end and it stunk but the place was packed. No one should ever get that table in my opinion because the food isn’t worth it so a view of something has to happen. Pro- the mussels were tasty and so was the bread.
A few things that made my visit to Skippers both disappointing and unenjoyable. 1. I called ahead of time to ask if they offer full lobsters, since they are in season. Whichever staff member answered the phone told me they do not, they only serve lobster rolls. 2. Our server was not only rude, but also didn't tell my party the specials WHICH INCLUDED A FULL LOBSTER and lobster Mac and cheese! We didn't find such out until we overheard another server speaking to a different table, when we had already ordered. 3. My food (fish) was undercooked they then proceeded to put my food (which was half eaten) back on the grill instead of replacing it with a new piece. Not only was the food and service an issue, but a manager didn't even come over to address my food being undercooked. For the prices of this place, my group agreed we would expect everything to have been much better. Next time I come back to LI to visit, this restaurant will be the last place I recommend.
