Black Bull - Northumberland

Disappointing that none of the three staff we saw could pop to shops to get milk. We ordered two coffees but then were told that the bar had none left at 1pm. Three members of staff apologised and refunded cost of two coffees. Apparently it will be credited to my account in 24 -48 hours. With so many pubs struggling, I found it incredible that none could find time when bar was very quiet to go get some milk. Shops selling milk within 2 mins walk. I would have thought that businesses would be doing all they can to make a few pounds. Staff are always friendly and polite but really lost for words that such a simple thing could not have been fixed. We even offered to go to shops ourselves. Had bar been busy or if only one staff member on duty it could be explained but no one at bar amd in end all three staff members were behind till serving me.

We regularly go and love the place, food is very good quality and reasonably priced. There is a scottish guy there who is lush too.

A lazy Sunday afternoon in Morpeth to meet up with a friend of a friend to celebrate her birthday, and The Black Bull was the nominated meeting place. The original plan had been to go and eat elsewhere after a couple of drinks but I was comfortable and settled and I’d taken a liking to The Black Bull and opted that we stay put. The only downside was you’ve obviously got to hurry up and get your Sunday dinner orders in as The Black Bull is clearly a popular venue and they can run out of stock fast, and unfortunately all three of us just missed out on the three meats specials, I completely blame the girls here for faffing about and being so indecisive. The staff couldn’t have been more genuinely apologetic that we’d just missed out, but our alternative choices off their menu were all spot on, I certainly enjoyed my meal and that was all that matters. I opted for bangers and mash with extra pigs in blankets, I’ll be back one of these Sundays for that three meats Sunday dinner that I’d only just missed out on. Happy to recommend The Black Bull, it’s a lovely pub with friendly staff that does decent food.

Went for evening meal with friends. I asked for a veggie burger and was astounded and confused when the very young staff member asked me is I wanted it with extra chicken bites or beef. !!!!! I asked “ why would I want chicken or beef with a veggie burger and she took major offense to my question then shoved the card machine at me to pay. Very poor service and attitude from a clearly untrained staff member. Will never eat there again
