Food was not authentic lacked flavour and spice. Veg pilau was made with frozen veg (including Brussels sprouts! and packet golden rice. Very disappointed but restaurant atmosphere and staff were fine. Don't bother if you really want a curry! Overpriced for the quality of food.
Delicious locally caught Fresh Lobster on the menu this evening and tasted delicious as always , we thoroughly enjoy our meals here at the Taj and always greeted with a great welcome.
In all honesty I cannot fault the food as we did really enjoy it, however I am disappointed with the attitude and actions of the manager. We would normally have a takeaway but having noticed there was a half price offer on, my friend booked a table she checked the offer was still on when she booked. When the bill came out, no offer had been applied. My friend was too embarrassed to say anything so she paid without challenge. I would have asked the question to the member of staff at the takeaway part when we went out but unfortunately he was on the phone. Instead I emailed the following day. The manager immediately apologised and asked my friend to go in with the receipt and he would sort it out. As no receipt had been provided, I confirmed what we had and a figure was confirmed that my friend could collect. When my friend went in, £7 less than the agreed amount was handed over no apology provided. On a further challenge from me, the explanation was the manager didn't have the receipts in front of him when I originally queried the bill. Personally I don't think it is good enough. To book a table for an offer not to be applied and then to agree a refund and that to be backtracked on is unacceptable. I could upload the emails from the manager but I'm not that vindicative. However, I would recommend that you check your bills to ensure any advertised offer is applied and challenge straight away. Out of principle I will not be back.
We visited our local Indian restaurant this evening to find some new little gems on the menu , these definitely did not disappoint, Shake Karim the owner always welcomes us open armed . Amble being a seaside resort, the winter months are somewhat quiet, we feel it’s important to support our local restaurants at this time, so here goes our starter was Shahi Machili a salmon dish spiced and served with fried onions , our mains were a new chicken dish Malai Tikka , simply marinated with yoghurt fresh cream, garlic and ginger with a hint of lemon giving it a refreshing taste, our other new main course was the Sara style cod fish , Cod Jhal Jull , a combination of special blended spices and crushed chillies creating a medium to hot taste , we chose a garlic rice and garlic naan to accompany, 5 star quality with great service, I would highly recommend locals as well as tourists to try the gem of a restaurant.
