I was curious as to why such a charming pub in a beautiful village appeared to be closed, with most of the signs pointing to recent events. However, I soon discovered the reason. I had to pick up a golfer for the first time and my GPS had led me to the wrong location. As I parked in a spacious empty lot to make a phone call, I was suddenly approached by a man who seemed to be fixated and agitated, resembling an angry Jeremy Corbyn. He demanded that I leave immediately, despite my attempts to explain my situation. Fortunately, my call went through and I received directions for my pick up. As I left, I thanked the man for his unexpected encounter.
If I could give this establishment less 5 stars, I would. I have lived many years ago to this place and it's just terrible. I count the days until it changes the property and is taken over by some really pleasant people. it is...absolutely wasted in the hands of his current owners. it's pretty much open a day in the week, the owners aren't kind at all. the beer is terrible. that eating is terrible and there is a particularly evil little clique of individuals who come in addition to this (not all ndividuals, but a certain group of them) so that the atmosphere is not at all pleasant. if they drive their car so much into the parking lot, the evil owner is thrown out of his pub and tries to chase them off. it does not play any role, whether it is a need and must pull over them are not welcome. If you think about going in, just go by. I would recommend trying the widddrington inn (in widdrington village) instead, or the junction (in widdrington station) if they are looking for a drink or something to eat in this opposite. just don't stop at the forge.
Visited this quiet but very friendly pub / restaurator with my friend. we had both dinners on Sundays, I had the lamb and it was nicely cooked, come from the bone served with roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and veg. my friend had the steak pee with. one side of chips and also said it was very delicious. we had 2 desserts 3.00 everyone can't complain that it was shameful. will come back.
This place is open about once a week if you're lucky, they shut whenever they want and i wouldn't say are reliable enough to even keep you table. small parking yard and could do with a revamp.
