Serving staff were friendly, food was delayed due to a large order but staff explained this to us ahead of time. The food itself was really average, due to the costs we naively expected to have an above average experience but it was no better than your standard mass pub/resteraunt chain.
One of four traditional pubs for locals and visitors to experience and enjoy however despite this pubs great potential it is currently being completely spoilt by an extremely rude bully of a proprietor that has no idea how to treat people with respect please steer clear .
In my opinion, The Ship pub lives up to its name. The atmosphere is delightful and the locals are friendly and eager to socialize. Gordon, one of the owners, was also welcoming and talkative. The pub is warm and inviting with two log burning fires. We didn't have a chance to try the food as we had other plans, but the menu looked exceptional. It seems to offer more than just your typical pub fare. If we find ourselves back in Wylam, we would definitely dine at The Ship!
Thought I would try here since new owners took over and brilliant. Very polite and friendly Scottish guy behind bar. Nice service, great food, couldn't eat all of mine but well worth it.
